April Ross
April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball stars who have won medals in many Olympics. Alix klineman, who is competing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics is hoping to secure her third gold medal. Ross also hopes to get her first Olympic medal. It may well be that she has one chance at winning, as she's 39 old. Nevertheless, she remains certain of taking top honors. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we do our best and even if we just play well I believe we can get the gold medal." Additionally, I'm going be relying on a little bit of luck. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area with her father, mother and sister. Along with participating in a variety of sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball, as well as basketball, track and running. While she did well at indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her skills were above normal. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter on the volleyball court as per her bio at the college. She was awarded the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. Also, she won the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman might be working on a project in the year 2017, however Ross had already been a seasoned athlete at the beach prior to when they came together. In fact, she's been able to win multiple tournaments, including one with a legendary volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 until 2013. She also worked with Klineman and herself. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who took home the title of world champion alongside Kessy in 2009 was also an important player on the an international level. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they were awarded a gold medal. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team as well as Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she retired. Together, they took home bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics of 2016. After high school and many years before hitting the beach as a professional Ross balled out to the Trojans at USC while a collegiate. The time she spent in the Trojans' ranks was an impressive one. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. The Trojans made it to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal defeat in her sophomore year yet was successful in achieving the All-American title. Through her last two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the top of the mountain by winning two three consecutive championships at the national level. As an individual, she cemented her place as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the best female volleyball players at colleges across the nation. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross was never able to witness her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001 when Ross was still in the midst of being a USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. Her mother is still dear. Margie continues to be a source of inspiration, both off and on at the beach.
