Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic singer, composer and performer. He blends soul gospel jazz and R&B in a distinct blend. From Broadway to European festival and clubs, the singer has done work across the globe. Her real name is Denise White. She is originally from Chester Pennsylvania, where she started her musical career by playing the piano and singing in church. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she began her training in Atlanta's R&B scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single to feature her vocals was called Stalk You A house 12 released exclusively in Japan and was later remixed by a variety of producers and has become a staple of her live set. Her voice also appeared on the soundtrack of The Fighting Temptations. In 2005, Tyler Perry hired her as the primary keyboardist in his stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy as well as Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, contacted her about being the choral leader for this theatrical production. Sunshine gained national recognition through her performances on four consecutive days in 2008 at the Democratic National Convention. She was invited to perform during President Obama's 2009 inauguration.
