John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people with his pop-folk songs Many of them were based in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in the love of Colorado and later settled in Aspen. A few beat a path through Colorado due to Denver's famous songs for his home state. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said the following: John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever to be inducted. He is now the international face of Colorado. You meet people in other nations, for instance New Zealanders. They tell them "I am originally from Colorado" then they react by saying Oh John Denver. Brown said. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief period of performing with small folk group comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver saw an early rendition immediately, he realized it was destined to be an instant hit. The singer recorded the song just a few days later following a performance to the awe-inspiring crowd at Washington D.C.
